Mac Using your clips Updated June 27, 2026

Search your clipboard history on Mac

Copied it months ago? Press the hotkey, type a word, and paste in seconds.

Here is the magic of Clipboard AI: anything you have ever copied is a couple of keystrokes away. Press ⌘⇧V, type a word, and paste, often in under three seconds, whether you copied it an hour ago or months ago.

Search the floating picker

Press ⌘⇧V anywhere to open the picker, then just start typing. The list narrows to clips that match as you type. Use the Recent, Saved, and Collection tabs at the top to jump straight to a group, then press Return to paste.

Search your whole history

For a deeper look, open All Clips from the menu bar. The search box at the top searches your entire history, and you can narrow it further with your Collections or Saved items in the sidebar.

Make it even faster: name your clips

Give the clips you reuse a short name like Guest WiFi, then just press ⌘⇧V, type the name, and paste. See Pin, name, and organize on Mac.

Common questions

How do I search my clipboard history on Mac?

Press Command Shift V and start typing to filter the floating picker, or open Show all clips from the menu bar and use the search box to search your entire history. Most clips are found and pasted in a few seconds.

Can I find something I copied a long time ago?

Yes. Clipboard AI keeps your history, so a clip from weeks or months ago is still there. Press Command Shift V, type a word from it, and paste. Naming the clips you reuse makes them even faster to find.
